Just got back from my first trip to Tahoe.  I'll caveat this by saying it was New Years and I am definitely a beginner snowboarder but, after only having been to Killington, Mt. Snow and Hunter, I was definitely impressed.

On the first day I went to Northstar, which I later found out is nicknamed Flatstar by some locals, but it had a lot of good green and blue trails for a spaz like me.  Considering it was my second day ever of linking turns on a snowboard, I was pretty happy with how things went.  My only complaint was that the end of the day was super crowded on the lower green trail, with a lot of more advanced skiers flying by.  It made it a little nerve wracking to be constantly wiping out in but that's really specific to my level of suckitude on the slopes.

The second day was at Squaw and all I can say is WOW.  After taking a cable car to the main summit, beginners like me have their choice of giant ski bowls to play around in.  The first one was a little icy but East Broadway and Links were both a great.  The lift lines got a little long at times but that's what I get for going to a popular ski area on New Years Eve.  My main regret was not riding the long cruising trail to the bottom...I was exhausted and it wasn't clear how easy it could be.
