We recently updated our Facebook app for Snowago, which allows people to plan and log their days on the slopes and get updates on snow conditions for over 700 mountains.
Since this is the second year of the app, a new structure of “seasons” has been added to group snow days for each 12 months starting September 1. Some interface enhancements have been added including an ajax type-ahead to make it easy to jump to any mountain page.
The primary changes involved updating the app for the new profile. The layout is now wider and also incorporates some of the redesign on the Snowago.com site to display snow conditions in a new “console” format. The app also utilizes two new integrations points. Users can add a tab on their profile to display their snow log as well as the latest conditions for their favorite resorts. They can also use the publisher to post their snow plans to friends. For business pages, a new profile box has been created allowing snow reports for a specific mountain to be added.
Behind the scenes, the data has been expanded to include new information such as latitude and longitude, allowing Snowago to display a Google map with 3D views for every mountain alongside a graphical trail map.
We hope these new enhancements help everyone share their skiing and snowboarding adventures this year, and we’ll be adding even more features as the season progresses.
